Cheer Concert 4 Apil 2009

Although 4 April was like quite some time ago from today, I really really need to blog about this Cheer Chen Concert we went to....

Cause this was like the first time we bought such expensive tickets for concerts ($150~~~!) for non-siao-onz concert goers like us, such a pricing really burnt our pocket. Nevertheless, for Cheer, its definitely worthed it.

Concert was called "The Immortal" which actually was for her new album "Sun" though I'm not sure why it was translated that way.

I must admit it again, the Cheer fans cohort in Singapore is very small compared to Taiwan where Cheer was hot stuff and they called her 老师 (teacher) though I'm not sure whether its due to her talent in music or the way she puts different views of life, love and friends into words. Quite sad that a lot of people in Singapore goes for commercial songs that they can understand directly from the lyrics. Yes, I do admit that it takes some thinking to understand Cheer's songs.

This was the quietest concert I've ever been to ... at least the starting. With Cheer performing her gigs with a little more than her usual no frills style. With masks, 伸降台... she looked a bit uneasy and her fans including us were just sitting there quietly listening to her singing and of course mesmerized by the visual displays that changes according to the songs performed.

The audiences started to high when one of her older songs "Self" came on. This is one of my favourite songs and I can keep repeating this song when I travel from West to the East without getting bored. In fect I have to keep from singing out loud.

She seems more of herself and at ease on stage when she finally shed her heavy dress and mask gimmick. I simply love it when she sings with just a guitar. When she sang this song 嫉妒I felt as if there was no one else there with me except for her. She is my "女神" .. as long as she sings, I don't mind sitting there for hours listening. I'm sure most of her fans felt that way too.

I will only cry when 2 persons sing. One is Fish Leong and the other is of course Cheer Chen. Especially when she sang this 失敗者的飛翔 and many many other songs like 嫉妒。。会不会。。。距离。。。鱼 .

In the middle of the concert, we were all damn high and stood on the (shaking) chairs when she appeared on motorcycle and her signature helmet, crane, mingle with the audiences and use guitar hero to introduce her band....

We had wanted to go to her Taiwan concert this year January and one more in November but of course not quite possible due to money and we weren't able to get the tic. (Tix sold out within 1 week from start of sales!!!)

This had become our dream and we really hoped someday it will come true ... accompanying with a trip to Kenting, Kaohsiung in Taiwan which was the home town of Cheer Chen and contained the beautiful beach that we all wished to visit...

1. 7th year (and not itching) anniversary in Feb 2008 (its going to be ongoing!)

2. Our wedding dinner in Mar 2008 at KL

3. A change of job in May 2008

4. Death of family member in May 2008

5.Wedding of Anson, Judy, Shunxiang, Xiaotian, Zhiyang, Rongshen

6. Achievements for Sounds Easy singing for the Singapore Arts Fest at Jurong Point and the recent All Saints Nursing Home

though :-

its sad that happy moments became memories ...

and sad moments became the past and

we are all growing older . . .

there are lots more to look forward to in 2009

like Jamie's wedding (Congratz!!)

a Baby (?) (perhaps . . . well I hoped)

new friends~

and new challenges~!

and of course, to end 2008 we must...

say sorry to all the visible (and invisible) enemies I knowingly and unknowingly made .... sorry sorry forgive me~~

say thank you to all people who helped me before (no matter how tiny) ... especially my family members... and friends (Claire, Phil, June, Renshi, Judy, Cinti, Yif, Jamie, Jianfa . . . ) and the list goes on ...

楊丞琳出新专辑了！ 虽然我不是她的迷但不可否认她的好几首歌我都觉得不错哦。。

好像暧昧， 左边 都是我爱唱的歌曲。。。

这次的新专辑“半熟宣言” 试图让扬丞琳走上比从前比较成熟的歌路, 造型和唱的方式
我个人觉得这是一个非长明智的决定，毕竟没有人能够一直都是可爱教主的。这样一步一步的慢慢变更能让歌迷有亲近的感觉而且不会太突兀。。。。


新风格。。。 非常成功。。。清新。。。 舒服。。。。 让人看到一向来看不到的扬丞琳


虽然在唱歌方面不是完美的 （毕竟没有一个人是完美的）
尤其是在底音方面不太稳定像MTV里的这首“带我走”。。。
而且让我觉得她的声音还不到诠释
太过于成熟的歌词和感情的呐喊的level 。。。
但这是一个很好的尝试。。而且也让人发现了她的进步。。。

Mamma Mia~! & Painted Skin

Did a stupid thing today... I took my office penknief home~~ IN my handbag~~! Goodness knows why but I just did... perhaps I was too busy that I got too absent minded.....

Lolx did a movie marathon last Friday... okok~ was only a 2-movies-marathon but to us its a lot ... well 一时冲动not to say that the movies weren't nice but watching them all the way from 9+ to 2am is damn tiring.....

First show was "Mamma Mia~!"



Though the story wasn't much (I won't describe~ watch or read it yourself) but you will be captured by the beautiful scenery as well as the somewhat familiar ABBA songs featured in the movie. Most of the singers bring out the songs well with the exception of 1 or 2 ... though I think this is great cos it reduces the commercialism feel of the movie and brings you more into the story. (Too bad one of the ... erm ... "better" singer happened to be the most good looking one)


However, I think the movie would have gone even better if some parts of the plots weren't "fast forwarded er... so fast(?) for example in the last part in the chapel when Sophie was about to get married with Dominic.... I felt like someone had his fingers on the fast forward key and was quite difficult to catch since the mood of that part was rather slow. If the plot was to change a bit there or the pace slower, I would have given a 4/5 stars.... ok its 3.5/5 stars now so not much of a difference. I must emphasize that I did enjoy the movie since I was a sucker for not-so-dramatic musical and good vocals and familiar songs... ;D

The few lead actors and actresses were well chosen (except Qi Yu Wu whom I think looks a bit expressionless) especially Zhou Xun 周迅 (小唯) whom I really　佩服. She was able to bring out the feeling and the meaning with little words or even little actions.



However, I think there are too much focus on love (sex and nudity) and the relationship between men and women (human and demons alike). I thought the last part when 孙俪 (Xia Bing 夏冰) said "Now I know why I failed as a successful Demon Slayer (or something like that)... its because there's hatred in my heart" was nice. I think the director was trying to show that love can become hatred and the contrast between the 2. However I think he could have shown more scenes of her failure to slay demons as well as snap shots of why she had hatred in her heart. That can better tell the audience the contrast between love and hate.

There was a portion of the movie that got me angry ... it was when the male lead actor 王生 told the demon that he loved her but he cannot be with her because he had a wife 赵薇 (佩蓉). Maybe I read too much into the movie but to me if you love a person, you cannot love another. And if you already have a partner, there CANNOT be the feeling of love towards another person. Unfaithfulness doesn't only show in the actions... straying of the feelings is also unfaithfulness. To me that is.

I don't really fancy slow paced movies or TV shows so I don't really like this movie. Those who like to watch slow movies or those that focus on philosophy of love and life will like it (I think). Its not bad, I would give it 3/5 stars with a warning not to watch it late at night when you feel sleepy. Not that its scary. In fact I think its not scary enough.

A great way to live your life faster - 8 yrs later

Got this here I wonder how is this possible taking photo of own self for 8 years at about the same angle and expression for all of the photos. If this is real, its a great way to compare your own changes throughout the years. Of course its not too late to start now or you can do that for your kids just that its difficult to get them to do the same expression. That's no big problem anyway.

;D By the way, I think he looks rather handsome (Like Leehom!) in some of the photos~ Don't mind me or say I'm superficial... ain't we all are?

Got this from Silin at Facebook. Watched it like 4 times in a row and still enjoying it.

I really 佩服the person who arranged this as well as the singers themselves. How difficult it is to sing "12 days of xmas" and yet they can do it so well + in different arrangements. Although its not perfect but this takes like so many practices and great confidence to sing and perform.

I wish people in Singapore can appreciate chorale singing and such creativeness more. Sadly, alot of people still think of choirs as simply stand-there-like-a-log and can only sing Halleluia. (And they make mindless jokes over it)
